It has been the favorite of serious and recreational shooters since it hit the shelves way back in 1988. Easier to conceal without sacrificing much is the calling card for this great handgun. A slightly smaller, more compact version of the Glock 17, the Glock 19 has unofficially become the Volks Pistole (“Peoples Pistol”).

Like many of its siblings, the Glock 17 has been through a number of generational modifications. You could be at a spice market in sub-Saharan Africa and people would recognize the pistol. It is one of the most widely recognized guns on earth. In all honesty, the Glock 17 is my personal favorite simply because of how it fits me. The Glock 17 was the original design put forth by Gaston Glock for the Austrian military contract. 2 slot we have the gun that started it all. If you do get the opportunity to run one, however, do it! This angry little Austrian fires at 1,200 rounds per minute, guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They are a rare bird in the public arena, as they are obviously an NFA weapon. Glock doesn’t exactly talk much about the Glock 18 and you will not find it on the Glock website. It looks very odd in comparison to the Glocks we carry every day, but it worked well. Originally made in 1986, it has a fire selector on the back of the slide. The pistol is a select-fire version of the Glock 17 that was developed at the request of the Austrian EKO Cobra counter-terrorist unit. With more than one million Glock 43s sold thus far, it is definitely worthy of our list. Easy to conceal and complete with the standard Glock reliability, the Glock 43 continues to be a major hit in the market.

With the Glock 43, we saw a trigger that was almost identical to our full-size Glocks and free from the 12 inches of travel it seemed every other sub-compact had. This gun brings a 9mm round into the fight with a trigger that most sub-compacts would envy. However, it is more than that with the Glock 43. Both of these guns are important because they spurred growth in the sub-compact gun market. This handy little blaster is what I consider to be the big brother to the Glock 42. GLOCK RIFFLE FULL
The bolt has the standard 7 locking lug configuration but the ejector appears to be a longer component running the full length of the bolt. The bolt carrier also has a forward extension over the bolt head, much like HK’s roller-delayed blowback designs, which is acted on by the charging handle located over the barrel. Unlike the AR-18 the bolt carrier group, however, appears to utilise a single recoil spring, rather than two. Like the AR-18 the Glock patents show no buffer tube, like those commonly seen in the AR-15 platform. We can get an idea of some of the other features that might appear on a future Glock rifle from the patents. The vz.52 is probably the most combat-proven design to use the system. However, the most successful rifle to feature an annular gas piston is the Czech vz.52, which has a mid-barrel gas port that vents into an annular piston head that then acts on the operating sleeve to engage a pair of push rods that act on the rifle’s bolt.
